All the Saints at Home in Rome

Ado’s most decisive—and most audacious—revision was his entry for November 1. In addition to listing the feast of St. Caesarius on this day, Florus’s martyrology had also included an entry for a “Feast of All Saints.” In accordance with its universalizing aspirations, Ado’s martyrology likewise includes this entry for the universal collectivity of saints. Ado records the dedication of the Pantheon in Rome to the Virgin Mary and all the saints, closely following Florus’s text, as can be observed by the italics that here indicate the additions made by Ado to the text of Florus:
